    Ages 9-10

We're aged 10 now and we've devoured everything in sight.

It can be hard to find books that have great characters, are challenging and complex, yet aren't over-the-top with romance stuff (a little is ok!) or too frightening.

Here are some of the books we read again...and again...and again...and again...!

    Malory Towers
    By Enid Blyton

    Malory Towers.jpg

This 12 book series is just one of the many book series by Enid Blyton. Don't worry, you probably won't have to get or borrow all 12 books because this series also comes in a 3-in-1 x 4-book set, which is very handy.

Anyway, back to the book. So, the story is about a girl named Darrell Rivers, who comes to an all-girl boarding school called Malory Towers. She meets many new friends there, and together they have fun playing tricks on unsuspecting teachers and even have midnight feasts! Darrell feels completely at home there, and makes a friend who seems very shy at first, but later becomes Darrell's best friend.

Later on in the series, Darrell's sister, Felicity, joins Malory Towers too! Darrell can't wait to take Felicity around the school and spend time with her, but it seems that the bold and brazen June wants to take Felicity under her wing and is influencing Felicity quite a bit.

Look out for annoying and snobbish girls, funny pranks, midnight feasts, a few nasty incidents, and much more in this series! If you liked it, be sure to read The Naughtiest Girl, St Clares, Amelia Jane, The Secret Seven, The Famous Five, The Wishing Chair, The Faraway Tree, and many other magnificent books by Enid Blyton, most of which will be reviewed later.

    Amelia Jane

    By Enid Blyton.

This is about a doll called Amelia Jane. She is very naughty, and  all the toys feel very cross with her. In each book, Amelia Jane plays a prank on the other toys but it usually backfires and she learns a lesson. However, her good behaviour never lasts long. I really like the funny bits in this book and the fact that Amelia Jane is so constantly mischievous. The toys are usually cross with her for playing pranks on them but they can't help liking her. I really like Enid Blyton's stories, short or long.

    RECOMMEND A BOOK!
