I'm sure I said it in the other travel book reviews, but in case you don't know, every year my family goes somewhere for the December holidays, but my parents keep the location a secret. It's kind of a family tradition by now. Then, my parents get books, and my sister and I make PowerPoint slides and present them.
The location reveal for 2020 was London and Finland. I'll only talk about the books for London, because we didn't get any books for Finland. We mostly went there for the Aurora, toasting marshmallows and tobogganing.
My sister was 6 and I was 8 when we read these.
On to the books about London:
London Search & Find
This book is super cute. I loved this book and it really helped me to learn more about London. It has some fun facts about the places, which is super nice, and the search and find thing is super smart, as when I am searching for the things I will carefully observe the places, which allows me to know more about what London is like. I definitely recommend this book.
And a peek inside the book:
Pop-Up London
This book was my second favourite! It's so fun and interactive, and this helped me learn more about London than any other book. I really like the pop-up function. It makes everything easier to see and observe. Not only that, the back of the pop-ups also have images too! The detail of this book is incredible. It has so many fun facts about each place, and I could spend a whole day soaking up the contents of this book! I absolutely recommend this book.
Tower of London
I really like learning about the Tower of London. It has a really interesting history. I really loved this book. It tells me facts and slightly gruesome history in a funny way. This book is really great and I learnt a lot about the Tower of London, including how it was built, it's early history, and some of the people imprisoned in it.
Paddington Bear series
This series is really close to my heart as I read it when I was very young. I love this series and the things Paddington gets himself into. This series isn't a guide, it's a series of amazing and funny books, and there are coloured pictures too! I definitely recommend this book-but maybe for readers aged three to six. :)
The Six Wives of Henry VIII by Dominic Sandbrook
This book is far by my most favourite. It is so good and interesting. I can't believe King Henry the VIII had so many wives! I learnt so much about him that I did not know before. I love learning about rulers and their lives, and this book is all about that, and it is written in a really engaging way that makes me want to keep reading and never stop. I am definitely reading this book again and probably the one about Cleopatra as well. I absolutely recommend this book. You MUST read it.
